Download, Install & Activate your Software

You beauty! Some new tools to pay with!

But before we dive into creating the next award-winning masterpiece, let's get your software installed, activated and, you know... working. 

 

TIP: Make sure your internal Autodesk admin has assigned your license to your email address by this step. You can download the software, but won't be able to log in without it being assigned. 

 

Step 1: Login to your Autodesk Account

  1. Sign in: Head over to manage.autodesk.com and sign in with your email and password. 
  2. Find you stuff: Click on 'All Products and Services'.
    (Right click and download pictures if images aren't loading). 

 

Step 2: Search & Download

  1. Search: Navigate to your product or you can search in the search bar. 
  2. Check Version: Select which version you need. Note: Autodesk portal has current and up to 3x versions back, if you need an earlier version, follow these steps or let us know and we can source it for you. 
  3. Select: Click on 'View Details'.

  4. Direct Download: Hit the dropdown next to 'Install' and select 'Direct Download'. This grabs all the setup files directly to your computer, so you won't need to pull the files from the Autodesk website during installation.
  5. Updates: Don't forget to download any other updates needed (Such as SSO or Identity manager - If applicable). 

 

Step 3: Prepare for Installation

  1. Find Downloads: Your files will be in your Windows Downloads folder. This may take some time depending on how many files, their size and which product you're downloading. Maybe grab a cuppa?



  2. File Check: In most cases, you should have multiple files. Make sure to wait for all files to download before starting the install. 
  3. Unblock Files: Within your downloads, 'Right click' each file and select 'Properties'. Then select 'General' tab and tick the 'Unblock' box. Finally you make sure you click 'Apply' and 'Ok'. 

Step 4: Install 

  1. Close other Programs: Make sure all other Autodesk products are closed. 
  2. Run as Admin: Right-click on the .exe file and select 'Run as Administrator'. 
    (Note: Sometimes these are .msi or other formats) 
  3. UAC Permission: If UAC asks for permission, click YES. 
  4. Extract: The installer will crate and extract files. 
  5. Install: Click 'Run Installer'.

Step 5: Follow the Installer

  1. Agree to Terms: Select 'Agree' and hit next > 
  2. Install Path: Accept the default install path and click next > 
  3. Install: Hit the 'Install' button and let it do it's thing. >
  4. Wait: Hang tight until your software installer reaches 100% completion. How's that coffee going? 
  5. Update: Once done, install each update the same way. 

Done! 

 

Step 6: Activation

When you first open your software, it will prompt you by saying "Let's get started". Make sure you select the button that says 'Sign in with your Autodesk ID'. (as below)
