Ever find yourself in need of an older version of an Autodesk product?
Maybe you have a favourite feature that has been phased out, or more often than not, you're working on a project that needs to match an older software version. Whatever the reason, we're here to guide you through the steps to get your hands on those vintage gems!
Recent History
As we know, the Autodesk portal hosts the most up-to-date version of all of their tools, including up to three years worth of prior versions. The latest versions also receive new updates, bug fixes and patches quarterly.
But where can you find that 2020 version the project you just took over requires? Here are a few options:
Option A
Via the Autodesk Portal, but... in a different spot.
- Sign in to the Autodesk portal
- In the bottom left of the screen you will see the following options:
- Select 'Ask the assistant' (This will start a chat window)
- Select 'Post Purchase Support'
- Then select 'Downloads'
- Follow the prompts and enter the version you need - Eg: Revit 2020
- Select to 'Install on multiple computers' - that way you can save the files for future use if needed.
The system will proceed to download the series of installer files for you to run, but remember - don't start installing until all files are downloaded.
You are now able to install and activate!
Option 2
Ask us.
Just give us a ring, send your account manager an email, reach our via our website, seek out your customer success rep or send a carrier pigeon (whichever works best) and we can generate a download link for you.
In conclusion, we always recommend using the latest versions, but if you ever need to go retro, hopefully the info above will be totally rad, groovy, swell and/or the bees knees.
