Autocad PDFS and the "flattening" problem
Posted by Brad Kanther on 18 April 2016 09:50 AM

PDFS are taking a very long time to print or not printing at all and quite often get stuck on the "flattening" part of the printing process.

The main problem here is the use of transparency in conjunction with surface analysis styles. Please note Adobe Reader/Acrobat will attempt to flatten these transparent triangles before printing which can be "incredibly slow!" or not happen at all as there are so many of them!

Read this knowledge base article here.

If you use a different PDF driver like CUTEpdf it will pre-flatten the pdfs for you. Alternatively you can use the PDF printing option "print as image" and it will work.
