Tip Title:      Revit Content missing

Product:      Revit 2014 & 2015

You receive a message when starting Revit “Default Family Template File Invalid”

You do not have any of the standard templates listed on the home screen

You are trying to load a family and you click on the Metric Library icon in the places pane and it does not seem to take you anywhere that contains families, or you do not have very many families

This is typically a result of not having installed the content correctly

1.      To fix this go to Control Panel > Programs and Features

a.      2014 & Earlier – Click on the Revit product and version and click Uninstall/Change

b.      2015 & Newer – Click the appropriate version for Revit Content Libraries and click Uninstall/Change

3.      In the resulting splash screen click Add or Remove Features

4.      Make sure at least US Metric is ticked

5.      And click next.

6.      If you find some or all of these are already selected and you don’t believe you have the content for that content pack, then unselect that content pack and click next (make sure at least one content pack is selected).  Run through the procedure a second time, this time selecting those content packs again.
