Tip Title:      Connectivity

Product:      Revit Server

Author:        Chad Smith – Consulting Technical Lead

Issue:

The client PC is having difficulties with connecting to a Revit Server Host.

Solution:

The following suggestions can be tried in order to verify the client PC’s connection to the Host.

1.      Verify that the client workstation and Revit Server can ping each other by both DNS name and IP Address.
Do this from the command prompt by typing, Ping [DNS name].

2.      You can also verify the connection by browsing to each Revit Server from a client workstation. In Windows Explorer navigate to:
\\<RevitServerName>\c$

3.      Verify that the correct Revit Server name appears on the client workstation Environment Variable.
Go to Control Panel > System and Security > System > Advanced system settings.
Then go to the Advanced tab > Environment Variables > User Variables, and look for a variable named REVIT2015SERVER, and check that it contains the correct Revit Server name/s.
