Tip Title:      Reset Revit Ribbon and Quick Access Toolbar – Delete UIState.dat

Issue:

The Revit Ribbon or Quick Access display has become corrupted or you simply want to reset it back to default.

 Solution:

You will need to delete the UIState.dat file.

  1. Close down all sessions of Revit on the PC.
  2. Rename the existing UIState.dat file as a backup.
  3. Reopen your Revit product and a new UIState.dat file will be created and the Ribbon and Quick Access Toolbar will appear as default.

 

The UIState.dat file can be found in the following locations (Where Product Name is for example Revit Architecture 2014):

Windows 7/8/8.1

%APPDATA%\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit {Product Name}

Windows XP

%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit {Product Name}
